The Investigative Interviewing training is based on the PEACE model (Plan / Engage / Account / Close / Evaluate). This method was developed during the 1990s by the British police in collaboration with several universities and is used worldwide as the standard in interviews.

The intent of that method is to gather as much accurate information as possible by allowing the interviewee to tell their own story. The task of the interviewer consists of facilitating and managing the conversation. Here, a transparent and neutral attitude is of primary importance. After all, the interviewee experiences less stress in an honest environment, which has a positive effect on the completeness of his or her testimony.

In practice

During the training, the functioning of memory and the possibilities of capitalising on it during the interview were also discussed in depth. Interview techniques to bring out deep memories were also practised extensively. Sophie participated in a case study and several practical situations to apply the acquired skills in practice. She could thus immediately experience how good questioning influences the results of an interview.

Investigative Interviewing at SV Investigations

After obtaining this certificate, Sophie can use the PEACE method as an additional technique in various investigations. For example, it can be used in cases of suspected corporate fraud or at disappearances help uncover the full truth.
